As we come to the end of another busy term, we thought you would like to hear about just a few of the exciting things our students have taken part in over the last couple of weeks to expand their learning outside the classroom. Year 9 and Year 10 students took part in a higher education workshop led by Emmanuel College, University of Cambridge, and they explored what life might look like as a university student, with an insight into degree courses and student societies. Across in maths, we celebrated Pi Day, and students explored the history of pi and participated in engaging mathematical activities related to it.Our engineering group visited the 'Get up to Speed with STEM' event at Magna Science Adventure Centre. Highlights of the day were the Mclaren F1 car and the Army airsoft range, with some of our students having a go at casting a metal star. Some of our dance students took part in an exciting contemporary dance workshop this week with the Northern School of Contemporary Dance Centre. The workshop was led by a professional dance artist, and our students experienced contemporary dance technique, creative work and learnt about how they could pursue a career in dance. The Year 11 geographers were out exploring Sheffield city centre as part of their fieldtrip coursework which goes towards their final GCSE exam, and students who are part of Sheffield's Future Bound scheme visited JRI Orthopaedics as part of their careers curriculum. These students experienced an insight into the design and manufacturing of joint reconstruction. The highlight of the day was having a go at a hip replacement workshop! As a whole school we also took part in Red Nose Day by wearing non-uniform and raising vital funds for a great cause. As this week draws to a close on Friday, we would like to wish you all a safe and restful break, and we'll look forward to welcoming our students and staff back on Monday 14 April.
